The Buddha of Kamakura

We have been in Nara for a week in a stunning Japanese style room. Asian Education Conference. Am deep in the writings of the Buddha.

The Buddha of Kamakura – built in 1252, is the largest Buddha next to the Buddha in Nara. IT is well known as a “handsome” Buddha.

Strasbourg, France

Cathedral built in 1300 AD

May 1983

This cathedral is gorgeous with original stained glass (took it down during war) with a lovely organ even from 14th century. We had a tour of his pretty city and enjoyed it. Visited Heidelberg yesterday – lovely city but our guide lacked English ability. A great guide today who reminded me of Bronwyn – darling!

Port of Recife

January 1987

Arrived on schedule just about 24 hours from Minneapolis. Arrived too late for meetings today so took a swim and am having dinner in my room – and bed early. I’ll join the group tomorrow. My hotel is very nice and right on the beach. A nice vacation spot, too bad I have to work.

El Salvador

Los Chorros, Republic of El Salvador

Due to hotel problems, etc, here, we decided to go to Antigua in Guatemala for the weekend. Back here on Monday eve. This afternoon we went for a swim here (Los Chorros) and for picnic. Now boarding PAA for Guatemala.

The Royal Barge Procession for the Royal Kathin Ceremony at Wat Arun, Bangkok. Thailand’s fabulous royal barges will form a stately procession to transport His Majesty the King to Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) where His Majesty will present saffron robes to the monastic community.
