It is not sposed to get over 8C today here with maybe some snow! There was heavy frost and some snow on the mts. in the Banff area. Winter is coming early. We had a great Chinese dinner last night.

Banff, Alberta, Canada – The Banff Springs Hotel, strategically located at the foot of Sulphur Mountain overlooking the joining of the Spray and Bow Rivers, has a unique and distinctive charm offering all the services that skiers in the winter or tourists in the summer could desire.
I’ve just come from the top of the Mt. where Moses was buried and saw the Dead Sea from there. I’ve got to read my bible when I get home!! Such a nice young college prof. has been “sightseeing” me and I’ve learned much from her. It is a lovely little city with an almost perfect climate (tho a bit chilly this morn.) built on hills with terrific views. I go home on Sun., Bill to Africa.
Taking a weeks break up in the north country. Had to bring Jen across to Canada to make her feel at home. Beautiful weather and not many people making it nice. Thinking about renting a canoe.

World’s Largest Antlered Mammal – Taller than a horse, the Canadian moose can weigh in excess of 1200 pounds, and have a rack spread of up to 64 inches. He eats twigs an shrubs, but his food is the root of the water lily.
Sorry for not phoning you while in U.S. We only stayed a few days. We had an around the world trip to Japan and Asia, was great. However, everything goes down the closer you get to India. Will return to the funny farm tomorrow – perhaps I don’t have a job – been gone for 3 months. I guess our father will depart soon – big changes. Don’t know what to expect. Write when you have time.
A little over a week ago I was in Cairo. Egypt. It seems like a lifetime ago. So far away. It was a fabulous trip. The weather was not hot but it was above zero every single day. A big improvement from where I am now.
This past week has not been the greatest. I spilled a full glass of water on my printer. My two year old oven range abruptly stopped working in the middle of cooking my dinner. And, I broke a water glass in the dishwasher. If this continues, I’m not sure this is going to be the best year, even after a trip to Egypt.
It makes me long for my next global adventure. Between Covid and the looming invasion of Ukrane, the world does not seem that inviting. However, always the optimist, I am starting to plan for Chile. I want to drive the Carretera Austral, the Southern Highway. I guess most people start at Puerto Montt and go south to O’Higgins. Apparently Bernardo O’Higgins is considered the liberator and father of Chile. Wonder where he came from…
Anyway, it is a beautiful area full of national parks, lakes, and mountains. Has anybody been? I would love to hear about it.
I will leave you with a photo of the above waterfall in its natural state.
Arrived OK yesterday morning. Found my visa had expired even though there was not expiry date indicated on it. However, got a new visa here.
Weather cool – 40 to 50 – dry and nice. I get the BBC news very well so will keep up on World news. All the team members are here and we start work today.
We are on the gulf of St. Lawrence now and it is windy an a bit rough. Walking the decks is fun! Spent the morning in St Pierre. Very typical little French town with lace curtains and garden plots. They even use francs. The boat crew is Ukranian and my Russian is lacking.

We tried to call you Sun. to see how your party went. We had Mikey and Alicia, Alex and Rosie here for wild rice and strawberries last night. It was a wine-y, late eve. Mikey returns to Mexico today. We four drove up north to Friesland – learned much about dikes, dunes and poulders. Fantastic what these people have done! It is very chilly, tho sunny and very windy as usual. Alex and Rosie leave for a camping holiday in Spain during July. I’m finally washing the curtains. Have a nice trip to Cal.
We actually haven’t been to these falls for quite a while (if ever) but may go tomorrow. Today we hiked north of Grand Marais and then sat on the rocks in the sun and listened and watched the big lake. Pretty relaxing! Dropped Val and Sarah off yesterday at Widgi — Sarah was still nervous but they were talking to their fellow groupie as we left (they didn’t get the Russians after all). One of the camp leaders said they were going into Quetico. Anyway, how are things at the lake?
