The Royal Mosque of Aurangzeb reputed to be the largest in the world built in 1673 AD

January, 1970

Yesterday we drove the Khyber Pass to the Afghanistan border. It was a real thrill! This was the route Marco Polo took, in fact, all trade and armies from Europe to Asia. It is still much the same. This part of the world is fabulous!

San Juan Teotihuacan, Mexico

Pyramid of the Sun

Imposing ancient Pyramid of the Sun, Almost seven hundred feet at the base, rises to a height of over two hundred feet. This postcard is from the 1960’s. It looks much different today with a lot more excavations.

I climbed this several times. Below a friend of mine is climbing it in the late 1970’s.

Caracas, Venezuela

National Library, Caracas

April 1966

The conference in Maracay is over and I think was very interesting. I will tell you about it when I return to Mexico about the 9th of May. Hopefully I will find a little time to spend in the county-side before then.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

May, 1965

I rode on a little airplane this morning from Vicosa to Belo Horizonte. It was cloudy so we had to fly up the valleys and avoid the mountains. This afternoon have enjoyed the beach and window shopping. I am not going to Montevideo but instead will go directly to Buenos Aires tomorrow afternoon.

Rome, Italy

“Ble Violet” Ivan Rabuzin, Croatian naïve artist.

December, 1983

We just got back from Rome – had a glorious time sightseeing, window shopping (elegant!), eating pasta, drinking cappuccinos several times per day. We had a good time. Rome is history, chaotic, beautiful and fun. I got black boots and postcards – nothing else. Wish you had been there too.

Love.

Chartres, France

Chartres Cathedral, West Rose XIII century

February 1974

We made it to Chartres today and both liked it very much. We took the train out and spent about two hours wandering around the church and museum. Time has flown by. Weather has been mostly ok. Will write letter with details.
