The Florida Alligator is found throughout the State, being most numerous in the Florida Everglades. They inhabit the swamp recesses usually near streams, rivers, or lakes. They have been found often in built up urban areas such as Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. They hatch their eggs laid in groups of 20 to 60 and can live for 200 years and can grow to 12 ft in length. Laws have been enacted protecting these saurians, to guard against possible extinction.

This is the famous Trinity River which will be made navigable to barges and pleasure boats from the Gulf of Mexico to Fort Worth.
