American Birkebeiner

Thousands of skiers make their way to the top of Mt Telemark at the start of the annual American Birebeiner cross country ski race. The race starts at the Telemark ski area near Cable, Wisconsin and finishes 55 kilometers down the course at Historyland in Hayward. Since its inception in February 1973, the Birkebeiner has grown into the largest and most prestigious race of its kind in North America. The race is also a member of the World Loppet League, a series of the world’s nine most famous ski marathons.
