The Grand Hotel in Taipei, Taiwan was established in 1952 and in 1968 it was rated as one the world’s top ten hotel by Fortune Magazine. The main building was completed in 1973. The hotel still exists today. These postcards are from the early 1960’s.

Built by his wife in 1555 AD. In this graceful building sleep many princes and Emperor of Delhi. This building is next to Taj.
(confusing because Taj is in Agra?)

Bill was to mail this from Bangkok on Saturday but didn’t have time. He went over on Friday AM and got back to Rangoon about 2 Sat. Aft. so you know he was rushed! He had 2 real honest to goodness steaks with trimmings while there – one of the reasons one goes to Bangkok from here.

We have been in Nara for a week in a stunning Japanese style room. Asian Education Conference. Am deep in the writings of the Buddha.
The Buddha of Kamakura – built in 1252, is the largest Buddha next to the Buddha in Nara. IT is well known as a “handsome” Buddha.

This is such a fun place. We are mesmerized by the river traffic in front of our hotel. My new suit is heavy black silk for winter, but not for your wedding! Wish you were here.
