Dear Jean
K. got back ok after a wonderful time in Seville, Cordova and Granada… We are finally having some warm weather – the beach was packed yesterday, even in the cold, dirty sea! It was a holiday – but lots of tourists are around now… Be sure to bring your raincoat or jacket. We are going over to East Holland to the castle area for a couple of days. Bill has rented a BMW to see if we like it!

We stayed in a real castle last nite, moat, armor, waterfall, cows, park, creaky floors, lovely carpets – delicious food and all!
It is finally HOT. This is a tourist area – but clean and nice. Val and I are having coffee and 7Up in a sidewalk cafe while rest are touring the grotto.

We just saw “The Wind and the Lion” – great – with lots of violence!! Also did a once-over of the British Museum. Our trip was not the best – late to Chicago because of traffic in air at O’Hare, very rough crossing in a packed plane, stood in lines everywhere waiting. But our bags came today!! and we have a nice hotel and have had nice food! This you were here with us.
Love to you, Mom
See? Travel wasn’t great 50 years ago either!!

Berlin is more fun w/out the wall. We went to this museum, the Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag today.
Your pal, Barb
Atypisches Museum Berlin. Erected in 1851 opposite Charlottenburg Palace to house King Friedrich Wilhelm IV’s Imperial Guard, this building and its mirror image twin across the avenue have served the Staatlichen Museen PreuBishcher Kulturbesitz as museums since 1967 and 1960 respectively.
Designed by Friedrich August Stuhler, the buildings with small round temples sat on their flat roofs are important examples of 19th century city architecture despite extensive damage suffered during the last war. In our case, a Marshall built to enable the horses of the Imperial Guard adjoins the main building. The long hall with vaulted ceiling is divided into three halves by iron columns that were cast in a Berlin foundry around 1858.

I made it to Vaasa and it’s beautiful. We are right on the sea which is nice although I miss the mountains a bit! There are 2 other American women here – we work together and have also become good friends which has been wonderful. Lots of salmon, saunas and biking – doing the Finnish thing! To Sweden next week on the ferry for an overnight. I tried to call you but screwed up. What are your Christmas plans? Keep in touch – hope all is well.

Greetings from Norway.
This is our second day of sightseeing in Oslo. We visited this lovely old cathedral this am. It was built in the 16oo’s. The cities are exciting but we prefer the mountains and glaciers of Western Norway which we enjoyed on our boat trip.
Hope you are having a pleasant summer.
Glen and Edna

I was there about 1994. Beautiful place.

We arrive Saturday night in Rome after a lovely drive through the south of France. Rome is incredible beautiful and we are very happy with Eduardo’s family and my sister. I hope everything is all right in Mexico. How was Tom’s graduation? Give my regards to Bill when he comes back. My sister is very busy with her exams but I hope she will be finished on Friday.

Hi
Your new blinds, etc. sound very nice. Hope all are installed and please you by now. We are both anxious to see everything! We saw “Passage to India” on Sun. Very good, but a bit strange in spots. We enjoyed it.. . I spent today downtown, mostly “looking”. Jammed with shoppers – but some schools started today so crowds will thin out a bit I hope. Madurodam is still packed. (Do you recognize the card??)
