Rome, Italy

“Ble Violet” Ivan Rabuzin, Croatian naïve artist.

December, 1983

We just got back from Rome – had a glorious time sightseeing, window shopping (elegant!), eating pasta, drinking cappuccinos several times per day. We had a good time. Rome is history, chaotic, beautiful and fun. I got black boots and postcards – nothing else. Wish you had been there too.

Love.

Chartres, France

Chartres Cathedral, West Rose XIII century

February 1974

We made it to Chartres today and both liked it very much. We took the train out and spent about two hours wandering around the church and museum. Time has flown by. Weather has been mostly ok. Will write letter with details.

Cosmonauts Day

April 12 is International Day of Human Space Flight. It commemorates the anniversary of the first human manned space flight buy Yuri Gargarin on April 12, 1961. Gargarin was 27 years old and he circled the Earth for 1 hour and 48 minutes.

Here I am holding my child up against the statue of Yuri Gargarin in Moscow, Russia. I love that statue.

Venice, Italy

The Doges’ Palace and St George Island

July 1976

Well, here I am, about halfway on my trip to Europe. Left home two months ago and if things go well, will still be here another month and a half. Would have sent word earlier but lost my address book and had to wait for somebody to send me your address. Hope all is well with you. You will be hearing from me again.

Lots of love

London, England

July, 1980

Last week we took a tour of Parliament rather than have class. It was interesting. We’ve seen a couple of plays – the other night Shakespeare in an outdoor theatre. Today we took a bus to Stonehenge. Needless to say I am keeping busy.

The Hague, Holland

August, 1981

This is a picture of the Queen’s refurbished castle in the Hague (Paleis Huis ten Bosch). She and family are moving in today so flags are flying, there is music and dancing all over the city. A “tub race” is going on in the park near my apartment. I’m going to walk over and see what it is.
