Captain Frederick Pabst Mansion
The Reception Hall of the Pabst Mansion was meant to impress guests of the Pabst family. Warm oak woodwork, a magnificent wrought iron chandelier and beautiful paintings compose a welcoming atmosphere. The period marble bust of Captain Pabst presides over the hall.

Dear Mother

It is a dark chilly morning – I am doing laundry (+walking up and down the 5 flights of stairs for exercise!) and Bill is being a typical American male – watching the football game!

We had a nice eve at Kathy’s apt. last night. She had 5 friends in and we just visited. Bill and I had spent the day in St Paul – mostly at the impressive Science Museum. We’re going to Tim’s at 5 pm for supper. Hope all is ok.

Love, Dede

Sternwheeler on the Mississippi
An excursion boat slowly makes its way up the Mississippi from St Paul, Minnesota to Historical Fort Snelling and returns again to downtown.

Beluga

The beluga (white) whale is just one of many rare species threatened by hydro-power development in James Bay, Canada. NRDC is fighting to halt this mega project act would flood a wilderness area the size of New Hampshire.
