Mare and Foal

August, 1990

Dear Gramma

I am enjoying myself here. The scenery is beautiful. My horse is Mariah. She is a spectacular horse. She does what I want and is fast. We have had wonderful weather. I feel very happy here. I intend to go swimming soon. I shall look forward to seeing you!

Dear Kathy (Camp Lake Hubert),

Dorothy Bill says she is sending your birthday present here. I haven’t found any comic bandaids yet. Fern and I expect to go to Jean’s next Wed. for about a week. We love your letters.

Red Wing

St James Hotel, Red Wing, Minnesota

In 1875, eleven proud businessmen built the St James Hotel to celebrate Red Wing’s prosperity. The hotel was restored and expanded between 1976 and 1979. Within the complex are 60 guest rooms, two restaurants, two lounges, banquet and meeting facilities, a shopping court and parking area.

International Falls

Hi – It was 22 degrees at the lake this AM!! But the sun is still warm and the day clear and bright, so we had a beautiful drive here. The leaves are just lovely right now. It’s to be warmer now for a few days.
We “did” International Falls this aft. – but declined the H.S. football game. Are now watching baseball.
So nice to visit with you. Too bad we can’t exchange a few degrees of temp. I’m convinced there are more than 10,000 lakes in Minnesota.

Dear N

Today we went to see a bunch of neat pictures in Northfield – most of them are battle scenes in space and thought you might like one or two of them.

Loons

August 1994, Duluth, MN

It is incredibly beautiful up here and we haven’t even left camp. We did swing on a rope, and swamp a canoe for fun, but that was after we learned those great strokes to guide the canoe. My group is interesting, and should be pretty fun. We are going to the lake with black sands and the worst portages in the Quetico. Our trip sounds really exciting and we are leaving at 5:30 tomorrow morning. No one else in my group really likes mornings, though.

Bates Motel

November 1988

I received a big stack of these postcards to promote the new Psycho movie. Not wanting to see the movie but the postcards are cool! Adam Werbach (Sierra Club Pres.) came to speak last Tuesday. It was very good. He spoke about the environment and young people getting involved. Today KUMM had visitors all day from the TC campus radio station, Radio K. They are helping us improve our station, suggest new equipment to buy and such. It was lots of fun and they invited us down to visit them some time – that would be something I would love to do. See you soon.

Love, Bronwyn
