Grand Marais, Minnesota

The Grand Marais Lighthouse, built in 1922, marks the entry point to the city’s harbor. Grand Marais is located on Minnesota’s breathtaking North Shore (of Lake Superior), approximately 40 miles from the Canadian border. The town is the entry point to the Gunflint Trail which winds 83 miles through the B.W.C.A. and Superior National Forest.

I got back here in good time yesterday – have had a sinus headache but it is better. I’m glad to be home where I can relax. An old friend from Mexico days just called and says he will come out to see me this afternoon. He’s here for meeting. So I’ve got to clean!

It will soon be thanksgiving, even if the upstairs bathroom is completely gutted. Will you be here? Well, come if you can, and if not perhaps we will see you a bit later – Christmas on Gull Lake? No snow yet but summer is definitely over!

We are back in our cabin after a hike up along the Cross River (south of Tofta). Today started out gray and misty but the sun finally came out and we got out on the lawn looking at the lake in just our flannel shirts (and pants…).

Plans to check out the new park (High Falls) on Friday or Sat. Hope you had a nice weekend with the Mpls gang.

Love, Tim
