A beautiful day on the North Shore with lots of sunshine sparkling on Lake Superior. We took a long hike high above Grand Marais and ended up with a panoramic view from Mt Pincushion.
Tomorrow we will drive up to a new park on the Canadian border, with an impressive waterfall, For a change, even Hoshi is getting plenty of exercise!
We are on the road up into Canada, very bumpy but beautiful at the same time. Our trip is going to be strange because we have to go around all the forest fires up here. They almost closed the parks we are going to so we are keeping our fingers crossed. I should have lots of nice smokey pictures to share when I get back! Even if we do run into fires, I do know we’ll have a great trip.

The Common Loon has a hauntingly beautiful voice and an equally striking plumage. A collar of white stripes and intricate patterns of white and black feathers of the wings and back distinguished the Loon from other species of waterbirds, mainly ducks and grebes, for which it is often mistaken.
It is really pretty up here at camp in Widjiwagen. I think that I really like camp. Yesterday we rolled a log into the water at the beach. It was really fun. Tomorrow we’re going on trail. Our counselor’s name is Sarah and she’s really weird and really nice.
We are all relaxing just north of Duluth at John’s Breezy Pt. cabins. Arrived last night and it was breezy but today the storm is over and the sun is shining. Hope you are relaxed wherever

Hello – how are you? Watching lots of trains go by! We are on the road to Winnepeg and will fly into the NWT early tomorrow morning. We have a total of 15 packs, some weighing about 90 lbs! It’s a lot of food.. I hope St Paul has not changed too much! We will be on trail for 86 days, and had a very challenging break-in paddle. Well, have a good summer!

White Tailed Buck. White tailed deer are among the widest spread species of North American wildlife, being found in almost every state in the lower 48 states. It is not unusual for white-tailed deer to reside in or very near to urban areas. The white-tailed deer population in the United States is estimated to be about 8 million.
The trees and hills are beautiful, lots of red, orange, golds and greens. Hill after hill of color. Drove around yesterday to see the sights, did a little hill climbing and rode the Alpine Slide at Lutsen. Used the airpot on way up, coffee was still hot when we got here. Thank you.
