Dear

Thanks much for the Xmas gifts. It used to be that when I was feeling low about the performance of my car I would have to walk all the way to Shorewood Hills (rich ‘burb) to lighten my spirits. Now, all I need to do is brew up a cup a tea, take a seat in my favorite chair and open up my new Mercedes-Benz book when I want to see what a car that works really looks like.

Thanks again, Tom

Dear

Happy New Year! We are having a great time in India. It is definitely an adventure here, you never know what is going to happen tomorrow. The Taj Mahal was amazing. Stunning from every angle and so peaceful compared with all the people and honking on the street and sidewalks.

Love, Kelly

Pretty much everybody has been to the Taj Mahal but me.

Here is a photo my father took in the early 1950’s.

Dear

Staid in St Louis last night – that is, getting to the hotel at 1:30 am. But we feel rested. Started to Oklahoma City at seven 30 but stopped here for a bite to eat. It is a wonderful place! The weather is grand and we are OK. This place is on the edge of Ozarks and so pretty – Looks a lot like around Lodi. Only divided highway mostly. Next transfer will be Okla City. Hope you both are rested from yesterday.

Love, Fern

Lake Minnetonka, Minnesota

This channel connects the upper and lower lakes of Minnetonka. Lake Minnetonka located about 15 miles west of Minneapolis has over 300 miles of shore-line. It is noted for its scenic beauty, fishing, sailing and a summer playground. A large amusement part is on the water’s edge at Excelsior, Minnesota.

Apparently the amusement park was there from 1925 to 1973. I never saw it.
