A thousand and one images of Buddha at Sanjusangendo Hall, Kyoto. (Actually this is the temple of Rengeō-in. This main hall dates back to 1266 and these figures are standing Kannon, the Goddess of Mercy (Avalokiteshvara).)

You should come to visit Japan as holiday with your wife. My family can speak English. You are welcome.

Lugano, Monte San Salvatore

My cousin found these postcards recently. They are special to me because I lived in Lugano, Switzerland for two years and I still think it is one of the most beautiful places on earth. It has changed a lot since these photos were taken, much more built up obviously, but still it is the same.

The last time I was there was 2014. Here are a few photos.

And a couple more postcards…

Hi

I’m back in Kenya en-route Lagos after a week in Tanzania. Managed to see lots of elephants and other wild animals while still getting my work done.

Dear

I keep meaning to write you guys – email I mean, but anyways – thank you for the letters you sent me! It is always very nice to get mail from people that you love. Things are going pretty well here – I love the students in the program and I am very excited about my project. Snorkeling on the coast.. I have been getting up very early each morning and going to bed around 9 pm. W/ the chickens they say here. I have been to San Jose two times – it still is pretty big and confusing. Every day I ride a University bus to school – which is always an experience especially when you have to stand in the aisles. I’ll be working in Cahuita Nat’l Park and Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge – if you want to find them on your map. I am slowly starting to comprehend mas Espanol, but my speaking abilities are still a bit lacking.
