Thanks for the mail and the clippings about Brugges. We are having rain, rain, rain – about 40 degrees most of the time… We are having people over for coffee and wine this eve. A friend and I plowed around Centrum and Babylon yesterday looking for bargains or whatever. A good way to spend a rainy day. I sent you a sweater – hope you like it and can wear it. I’m have 16 ladies for lunch on Wed.
My flight was OK. Full plane to Tokyo and two hour delay out of Tokyo but no problems. It is cool and raining here. My hotel is lovely. Haven’t seen much of the city yet but from my hotel room there are a lot of green trees and it looks nice.
Packing yesterday was awful – I have never been in such disarray. But we went out for a lovely relaxed dinner last eve and recovered our stamina a bit. Now, I’m going to just sleep and wander around at will. Sun is out today so I may make one last visit to the beach.

Hi
The office party was the best yet – they had made a slide show of “the Office” and it was a riot. We all were hysterical. But saying goodbye was very hard. Wish you were here – I would love to take you shopping!
Marg brought me a gorgeous deep rose wool and a pattern for my est. I have begun the back. I am also vacuuming – it broke down yesterday so I had to spend the morning cleaning it out! I’ve go to go get milk – and mail this.

The original part of the hotel still looks like this but they have a modern, lovely hotel around it. It is still one of my favorite places in the world. The flight over was long! 24 hours! With stops in S.F and Tokyo. Saw three movies – The Tin Men, Hoosiers and Burglars on the plane. Burglars was good.
Take care

This should reach you by the time of your birthday! Happy Birthday! Our hotel is lovely! Looks quite different now than in this photo but this is more or less as it was when we first stayed here in the 50’s. Hope all is well and your trip to Boston is fine. I am having a new silk suit made.

Hi
We all met as planned at airport about midnite last nite (24 hour trip – tired). This hotel (the new version) is just gorgeous and comfortable – we are impressed. We had big slabs of papaya for breakfast in the sun along the river. Wish you were here.

The Oriental, Bangkok, Circa 1876
From its earliest origin as a rest house for western adventurers, The Oriental has stood for quality of life that made it an oasis midst the hub-bub that prevails all about. As it was over 100 year ago, so it is today.
After four years here I plan to go back to University of Alexandria. Shortly we go to Kenya on our way home for annual leave. Happy new year.

NIGERIA
The most populous single African nation on the continent of Africa, lies on the west coast and has a rich tradition and culture closely connected with her religious beliefs and the rites and practices relating to them. Traditional religion has given the people a heritage of culture and tradition which is still noticeable despite later influence by Isalm and Christianity. The agriculture, music, art, craft, language and economies of the country still bear traces of this influence.
Spending ten days seeing the sourthern part of Wales. Drove here yesterday. It’s lovely country pity it is not a bit dryer! Have had too much rain. Will write a letter when I get home.

Greetings from NDjamena (which used to be called Fort Lamy). Arrived here yesterday via Douala, Cameroon. It is hot — 95 degrees or more when we landed. We will be here until Saturday when we fly to Paris for a connection to Abidjan. A long way around but much shorter in time. Hope all is well and will see you soon.
Lovely mangosteen, rambutan, papaya in Bangkok but non here. Heavy rain in evening but day starting fine. Hotel plain but OK. My colleague on assignment is good field man. Saturday’s here is day of no work. All OK so far. Slept well last night.
